Support During Hurricanes Ike and Gustav

October 6th, 2008

During the last month, we had two hurricanes impact us. The first was Hurricane Gustav which hit Louisiana, followed closely by Hurricane Ike making landfall in Galveston, Texas.
During the aftermath of both of these storms we have been very busy. The city of Fort Worth requested that Rev. Lance McCune take a position as the faith based coordinator for the Emergency Operations Center during the response to the hurricanes. In accepting this role we accomplished something that was historic. It was a fulfillment of the Uniting Clergy & Police vision, allowing us to provide help and support to many in need.

To date we have been able to unite over 200 faith based organizations with Law enforcement and Emergency Management.

About Uniting Clergy And Police

Founded by Rev. Lance McCune, Uniting Clergy & Police, is a non-profit organization whose main focus is bringing faith-based organizations, law enforcement agencies, Emergency Management and national corporations together for the good of the community.

U-CAP began by organizing a program developed after 9/11 known as CAPA. Due to the success of the program, U-CAP was developed to aid other law enforcement agencies in bringing a program like CAPA to their communities. U-CAP is designed to unite the resources of the local faith community with area law enforcement in times of crisis and disaster, by building working relationships with members of the faith community.

Sharing the vision with government entities by scheduling conferences and speaking engagements with the leadership in charge of emergency management, U-CAP is helping to add the same local resources for additional assistance during state and federal emergencies.

U-CAP is building relationships with national corporations in helping to provide resources and assistance for community development projects as well as times of crisis. U-CAP also holds training and speaking engagements for corporations and businesses showing them how to connect with the faith based community. This is solidifying more wonderful opportunities to showcase efforts of the business community.

Rev. Lance McCune graduated from Rhema Bible School in 1978. He is the Founder and President of Uniting Clergy and Police (U-CAP,) and helped to establish the Clergy And Police Alliance (CAPA) in Fort Worth. Recently he has acted as the volunteer coordinator for Tarrant County & Fort Worth during emergency relief efforts for hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He is currently traveling nationally attending speaking engagements helping to unite organizations with the faith based community.
